It’s time to launch your email marketing campaign; what should you know prior to setting your plan into motion?

Well, before you do anything, you should first make certain that your sales staff and all sales departments are prepared to make the transactions generated by your email marketing campaign.

Once your confident your business can handle a potential influx of sales, you should follow a few regimented steps to insure you’re making the most of your email marketing solutions. The below checklist will help you to determine what to do and when to do it.

Determine what day of the week to send your messages. The theories on this choice are numerous. Many experts suggest targeting individual customers over the weekend but business-to-business hopefuls on a Friday.

However, a recent study indicates the best day to issue B2B email marketing messages is Monday or Tuesday. The truth is, there is no hard and fast rule for this factor.

Do your own research to determine what day you think is best. Consider testing several days and determining which one gets the best response.

There are two times of day that are historically best for sending a marketing email, mid-morning and right after lunch. At these two times, people tend to be more receptive to what lands in their inbox.

After you’ve determined when and what time you’ll be sending your marketing email, you should prepare to monitor responses.

Your monitoring efforts should cover everything from replies to unsubscribes. Monitoring your responses early can help you to eliminate and even avoid certain link and spam problems.

Now it’s time to deliver that email and the final step should be creating and email that is attractive, but not too “spam like” that customers will take time to read and find easy to navigate.

An effective interface will enable you to track the results of your email campaign and move ahead as a result of that tracking.

Below you will find a summarized “tip list” derived from various email marketing experts. Take some time to review these tips and then be on your way to email marketing success.

Offer something to your customers!

In exchange for their contact info, offer your customers something in return. (i.e. a free newsletter, or seminar, or more information)

Be economical about the info you gather!

When gathering customer contact information, only ask for the information you need.

Make it easy for them to unsubscribe!

Make absolutely certain you provide a way for customers to unsubscribe from your e-mail marketing solutions campaign.

Creating a successful email marketing design depends upon a few key points. The first key is to keep it simple. If your email contains a flashy attention-grabbing window of opportunity, but no real content, you’re not going to get the results most businesses desire.

People steer clear of the gimmicks, so if your current campaign is ‘gimmicky’ you may want to consider revamping. If you make the decision to revamp consider the following.

Try a simple email newsletter. The reason for this is a recent report by Nielson Norman Group, the average e-mail user only reviews and Internet newsletter for an average of 50 seconds.

Whereas, marketing campaigns boarded by e-mail only hold the reader’s attention for around four seconds. As you can see the newsletter format will hold your average readers attention 10 times more than the normal email.

Which in turn brings us to the actual design of the newsletter or the e-mail.

It’s important to create a simple email marketing design that both captures the attention but also keeps the attention.

The simple truth is that most consumers and e-mail users only read a fraction of the e-mails they receive. The rest of the e-mails that they actually open are merely scaned for content.

Depending upon the individual, different advertising dynamics are found appealing. For this reason, you’re e-mail newsletter or advertisement should appeal to each of these demographics.

Aside from simplicity, an effective email marketing campaign will utilize ASIC principles of design. By promoting contrasting colors to draw the eye and call readers to action over the amplification of certain statements.

You may also want to consider the very e-mail inboxes from standard for e-mailing sources. For example Hotmail and AOL both offer varying standards when it comes to opening e-mail. It’s a good idea to use colors and fonts that will be visually appealing in any e-mail genre.

Most e-mail forums have moved on to the concept that design segment should not contain more than 200 to 300 pixels.

This means that your e-mail design should not be disproportionate. Try to ensure that you’re marketing design has a smooth flow and is distributed evenly for the entirety of the content.

There have been countless studies on how most Internet users read e-mail and various documents throughout the web.

Your desire should be to gain reader attention and you can be sure to do this by using an e-mail marketing design.

The most effective design is constructed around a five second view of any page. That means any information put on your page should be readable/scannibal within a five second time constraint.

It’s a good idea to use your knowledge. When it comes to marketing and media, to ensure that your message takes up less real estate than standard e-mail advertisements.

If your e-mail add takes up too much space or comes across too spammy, most ISPs will automatically filter it out as junk.

The imagery you placed inside your e-mail should convey a rapid message, don’t make the mistake of using photos and logos for mere beautification.

To make the most of your marketing campaign ensure that your pictures says something besides “I’m pretty”.

E-mail marketing is a rapid response industry. This means you must be certain to give your potential clients every opportunity to make contact with you.

You can be easily contacted via contact information placeed within your messages. Be sure to include links to your site, your address information, your phone numbers, your fax number and any other information that can be used to contact you on a daily basis, in every e-mail that you send to potential clients.

Let’s face it! Without the proper email marketing design your email camapaign may well be predestined to fail.

Knowledge is power! Use what you have learned here and from other resources well and your email campaign will stand a much better chance of adding profit to your bottom line.

If you’re ready to implement your email marketing campaign, and you’ve already selected some quality email marketing software, you should take time to analyze what factors make for a quality email in an email campaign.

Below you will find some great tips for designing a quality email that were derived from various experts in the field of online marketing.

Target your emails to the right recipients

Most failed email marketing campaigns didn’t work because the sender treated every email recipient the same.

The person who loved blue wallpaper got the blanket email featuring the green wallpaper. While the people who like green wallpaper were happy, the rest of the email recipients were alienated.

Don’t make the same mistake. Gather as much data as you can, from geographic location to customer buying habits.

Study that data and divide your list accordingly. If you have a group of people who love one type of service you offer and another group that couldn’t care less, strategize accordingly.

Personalize your emails

Call your customers by name in emails if you can. Send your emails from the same from address every time. The more personal you can get, the easier it is to build trust. You’ll also have a better chance of your emails being opened and read.

Keep your layout simple

Don’t overload your layout with flashy graphics, huge fonts and other in-your-face items. Keep your layout clean and simple.

Your layout should look professional and easy to navigate. A overly busy layout will turn your recipients off and send your email campaign or newsletter right into the trash file.

Don’t overload on copy

It’s tempting to use three paragraphs to describe a product you really love and think your customers should love as well. But don’t do it.

Use small paragraphs and economy of language to cater to the short time frame your customers have to go through all their emails. If you have something you want to expand upon, link to the rest of the story via a landing page on your site.

Include a call to action

What’s the purpose sending an email touting products if you don’t ask your customers to do something beyond look?

Your call to action can do many things: ask customers to click on a link, ask customers to fill out a survey, ask customers to make a purchase. Whatever call to action you choose, just make sure you actually have one in the emails you send.

Create a compelling subject line

Your subject line will make or break whether customers open your email or delete it. Do your due diligence.
Come up with an honest, compelling subject line meant to grab the attention of your customers.

Avoid hot-button words and phrases like “make money!” and “earn cash!”. Go for subject lines that pique the recipient’s curiosity, but tells the truth at the same time.

Keeping these things in mind as you create your campaign won’t guarantee your success, but they’ll dramatically improve your chances to generate sales and improve your ROI.

Advertising can be a very big topic among small business owners. It is not uncommon for small business owners to feel a little lost when it comes to advertising.

There are so many choices out there that it can be a little confusing when trying to figure out the best advertising options.

Some business owners may feel that paid advertising will be their best option and seek out those choices. Others may be on a small budget that does not allow for much paid advertising. Because of this, they turn to free advertising.

Each group may be wondering if they are making the right choice and if they should keep doing what they are doing.

In this article we will talk about the differences between the two types of advertising and give you the pros and cons of each.

Paid advertising includes things such as ads in magazines, newspapers, on websites, blogs, ezines, pay-per-clicks and so forth.

The benefit is, of course, the exposure that paid advertising can bring. Unfortunately, the cost of these ads can get expensive, especially if the ad will be seen by a large audience.

Free advertising includes things such as social networking, commenting on blogs, article distribution, sending out press releases, posting on forums, and so forth.

The main benefit of free advertising is that a business can receive a lot of exposure without paying out of pocket.

On the other hand, it can take up a lot of time to actively participate in free advertising and it is hard to say if it will bring in the exposure the business is hoping for.

Sometimes a business can get lucky and their free ad will generate lots of traffic, but that isn’t something a business should depend on.

While some business owners may think they need to decide between the two, a third option is take part in a little of both types. A business owner can set a dollar budget for paid advertising and a time budget for free advertising.

By doing a little of both, the business owner has the potential for increased exposure while staying on a fixed budget.

The website’s statistics program will help the business owner stay on top of where their traffic is coming from and help them decide where to continue investing their time and money.

Another option is to use an ad tracking system, which will automatically track the each of your ad’s clicks and conversion rates.

Advertising is an essential part of owning a business. Without it, a business is going to have a very hard time finding new customers.

By getting creative and participating in both free and paid advertising, a business owner can develop an advertising plan that truly works for them.

The use of auto responders is quickly becoming popular. Given the digital age we have come into at full speed, it is becoming more and more time-consuming to be checking voicemails and answering machines.

The digital age is now allocating and advocating the use of these responders as a fax-on-demand-type of system.

An auto responder is an automatic messaging system, generally used in instant messaging systems and emails, to generate an automatic response to an incoming message or a scheduled outgoing message to those who have requested this information.

They can be configured in many different ways to include not accepting the incoming message yet shooting a message back, letting the sender know that messages aren’t be accepted and when they will be.

These responders can also be set to accept the incoming message. The automatic message from an auto responder can say anything, letting your reader be aware of a circumstance, a vacation or other information as deemed necessary.

More and more people are leaning towards email and instant messaging versus traditional voicemail and in this it would be prudent to work smarter, not harder.

Auto responders are a smart way of dealing with a messaging system and can eliminate the time of having to call your cell or home machine to retrieve messages when it can be done at a glance.

Auto responders can also be used as a simple and very cost-effective way of advertising. While I don’t have an auto responder and use a signature with my email, auto responders reach farther and quicker to target markets, more so than a simple email can.

Why? Most people don’t read an entire email to see the signature.

Responders are also especially useful in support, such as “call a number if I am unavailable” – an encouraging statement for those who are under professional help or trying to quit smoking, for example.

They can even give useful information on how to solve a problem with software or hardware. Responders are also used to confirm a subscription or cancellation.

Unlimited auto responders can also be used to target specific consumers or other people. In an organized mailing list, auto responders can be “attached” to certain emails so that certain people get certain messages and not all people get the same message.

If you sign up to receive your horoscope each day or once a week, for example, these horoscopes are sent out using an auto responder.

In the end, auto responders provide effective communication with customers and clients, as well as other staff and even family and friends. They give an edge to providing free advertising and getting your name or company more exposure.

In this whole scenario, you do get to work less and make more, and that is what everybody wants. Look around – there are tons of free auto responders.

Programs offer different options, so make sure you find the one that will work best for you.

Email marketing services, also known as autoresponder services, are a dime a dozen. There are an abundance of providers and products available and each one is pitched as the next best thing.

Comparing products can be a time consuming process. Here’s how to pick the right email marketing service for your internet marketing business.

Decide if you want a full service software package with a number of features or simple, straight forward email marketing?

Some products come with autoresponders, shopping cart software, to product delivery tools.

Do you want HTML templates or are you going to send your email messages in text format? There are benefits to both.

Graphics and embedded links are great for creating captivating and converting messages however many people have their HTML turned off.

Comparing apples to apples. Much of the jargon on a particular product’s website can be vague. Here’s what you want to look for:

How many messages can you send each month?

Can you send personal messages to individual members on your list?

Is there a size or length limit to your messages?

How many subscribers or contacts can you have on your list?

Do they offer technical support 24/7?

Do they at least have telephone support during regular business hours or is it all email/ticket based?

How long have they been in business? (Having your email provider go out of business can leave you high and dry)

Do they offer a free trial?

Do you have to commit to a year contract or can you go month by month?

Do they provide room for you, and your list, to grow?

Many email marketing products offer tiered programs. Each tier offers you a certain number of subscribers and a limit to the number of messages you can send each month.

However, some email providers allow you to build customized plans to meet the needs of your specific business. This is a great way to get exactly what you need.

Email marketing is a critical component for any internet based businesses marketing strategy.

Finding the right email provider can save you valuable time, help you market and represent your business in a professional manner, and result in a bigger bottom line.

It pays to do your research, try a few programs, and don’t settle for the marketing product of the moment. Your business is too important.

Email marketing can be one of the best ways to market a business. For starters, it’s very affordable, and the business owner knows they are contacting people who want to be contacted by them.

To begin email marketing, you will need an autoresponder. There are many to choose from on the web.

Here is a run-down of some of the more popular services:

iContact

This service allows for various tracking reports, including how many people are opening the mail and clicking on the links inside the mail.

The service starts at $9.95 per month and is based on how many people there are on the mailing lists. There is a 15 day free trial.

Constant Contact

This service offers a 60 day free trial and starts out at $15 per month after that. Again, the pricing will depend on how many subscribers a person has.

This service is well known for its HTML templates, but falls short in other areas. For instance, users are limited to creating only 15 different mailing lists.

Aweber

This service offers a 30 day money back guarantee and allows you to get started for only $19 per month.

Like the others mentioned above, the cost is based on the amount of subscribers. This service also has HTML templates and is known for its great tracking features.

Wahmcart

This service gives a two week trial for only $1 and is $39.99 per month thereafter. Not only do you get unlimited email marketing capabilities, you also receive an affiliate management system, shopping cart, ad tracker and more.

This service offers lots more than just an autoresponder, but they do allow you to pick and choose just the autoresponder feature if that is all you need.

There is a 30 day trial for only $3.95 and the cost after that is $29 per month. This is the service that many of the most successful internet marketers use.

Other services include Vertical Response, Email Aces, and Get Response. All of these work in the same way as the above services.

Deciding on which service is right for you is going to be based on personal choice. You can take advantage out the free or low-cost trials and play around with them until you find one that suits your needs.

While you are deciding on one, remember to think about the future. Some of these services start out at affordable prices, but jump considerably in price.

You may not have much of a list right now, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have a large list in the near future.

Make sure you will be able to afford the service you choose if you all of a sudden get a large amount of subscribers.

Small business owners who are looking for a budget-friendly way to market their business may find email marketing their perfect solution. Many of the most successful internet marketers rely on this form of marketing for the majority of their sales. But can this really work for your business?

As the name implies, email marketing is a form of marketing done via email. Recipients sign up to receive emails from the business owner, usually in the form of a newsletter. In turn, the business owner sends out these emails along with some type of promotion for their business.

In a perfect world, the reader reads these emails, learns about the promotion and becomes a customer. Sounds simple – and it is, but there are also variables along the path to making this a successful way to market a business.

As with any marketing tool, there are some cons to email marketing. Don’t let that stop you from trying this technique, as these can be worked through.

The first obstacle to overcome is managing the mailing list. It would be nearly impossible for a business owner to try and do this on their own. If your new subscribers had to send you their information in order to be added, and you had to hand type out each new recipient, you wouldn’t have time for anything else.

There will be people who will want to be unsubscribed from your newsletter. Again, if they had to send you an email and you had to personally remove them, you would be spending way too much time managing your list.

This can be avoided by using an autoresponder service that allows people to sign up and remove themselves. Autoresponders also help your emails get delivered and avoid getting caught in spam filters.

Some business owners may struggle with getting their readers to open their emails. This can be avoided by creating interesting subject lines that get your readers’ attention.

Other people are afraid that they will run out of ideas of what to write in their emails. To generate some ideas, try writing out all the questions your readers may have about the benefits your products or services may offer them.

Some additional options would be to hire a ghostwriter to come up with customized content or to buy pre-written private label rights content.

Email marketing offers many benefits, as it is easy to use, very affordable and allows you to build relationships with your customers.

There are some very useful tips regarding email etiquette that if used properly, will increase the chances of an email being read more thoroughly and responded to timely.

It will not only provide for clearer communication but also better response levels – and in general, save both sender and recipient time and hassle.

While there are many, many tips that are highly useful, I will go over a few main ones and this will give you an excellent start of being on board the successful email train.

Keep your messages to a concise format and brief length, getting to your point. There is no reason to provide more details than what is necessary.

Your email should start with a proper salutation using titles such as Dr., Mr., Mrs., etc. Only start with a person’s first name if that is the only information that you have.

Beyond that, state why you are writing and request any information that you are seeking. Do not abbreviate as this looks unprofessional and may cause confusion for those who may not understand the abbreviation.

When needing to deal with several different subjects it is recommended that these subjects are broken down and separate emails are sent, with the subject line having a descriptive, yet short heading.

In this fashion, the recipient understands the topic almost immediately and more clearly, and is able to respond more precisely.

In addition, he does not forget a response, such as can happen with an email with many different topics. This also provides ease in scanning quickly for a needed email, ensuring a proper and timely response – which in turn will save time.

As regards a timely response, emails don’t necessarily need to be answered immediately but there are the occasions when it is more prudent to do just that. In cases of sales, customer service or tech support this may be required, otherwise effectiveness of the communication loses ground.

When composing your emails, always keep in mind the tone that is being set. It is much harder to decipher the exact inflection of an email than it is when in a face to face conversation.

Know that if you are angry, upset, frustrated or even tired that this can easily come across in your email and thus send out the wrong tone, possibly causing misunderstandings which serve only to waste time.

Resist criticizing others, as this is never professional and can show as a poor personality on your part. In responding to emails, be mindful of who this email will go to.

You may have sensitive information that is not suitable to use for the ‘reply to all’ option. Also avoid chain letters; they contribute to clutter akin to junk mail and will usually be deleted before they are even read.

Always, always be sure to use “Please” and “Thank you” as it is courteous and will be received much better than if you don’t.

Following these simple tips will improve productivity through good communication skills. This in turn will allow for a much smoother transaction all the way around. Your professionalism will show and good reputation will come forth.

If you have recently decided to try implementing an email marketing campaign, you can congratulate yourself on becoming involved in one of the most effective types of online marketing for your business.

While many business owners tend to shy away from email marketing campaigns because they believe these campaigns are always viewed as spam, others realize the importance of this type of advertising and are willing to spend a great deal of time and effort into organizing their email marketing campaign.

These business owners will likely find they are able to enjoy an advantage over their competitors who do not take the time to implement an email marketing campaign.

This article will describe the steps necessary to organize an effective email marketing campaign.

One of the first elements you should consider when you make the decision to start an email marketing campaign is the type of information you wish to include in your emails to potential clients.

This is very important because the information you provide will help your email recipients to determine whether or not they think your products or services are worthwhile. You can include a variety of information in marketing emails.

This may include, but is not limited to, full length informative articles, short articles enticing readers to visit your website for more information, links to other websites which may be of interest to your readers, links to your own website and even advertisements for your products or services as well as other products or services your customers may appreciate.

Once you determine the type of content you wish to incorporate into your email marketing, it is time to consider how you want to structure your email marketing efforts.

Two of the most common structures include an informative email with subtle advertising or an in depth e-newsletter with a wealth of information as well as some subtle advertising and even some graphics.

Deciding on the format of the emails you will be sending out are important because they will dictate the staff you will need to assist you in your email marketing effort.

You will require the assistance of a professional writer to assist you with the content in either emails or e-newsletters but if you opt for an e-newsletter you should also consider hiring a graphic artist to assist you in designing an attractive layout and creating graphics as needed to create an appealing layout for your e-newsletter.

Next you should consider how you plan to create an email distribution list. This is important because simply purchasing an email list is not likely to be effective. You may reach hundreds, thousands or even millions of Internet users by sending emails to all of the members of this email list but there is no guarantee any of them will have an interest in your products or services.

However, if you build your own email list of previous customers who have specifically requested additional information as well as potential customer who have also requested additional information you will have a well formulated list which includes mostly members of your target audience.

This is ideal because you are much more likely to sell products or services to members of your target audience than you are to sell products or services to members of an email group which is not filled with those who might be interested in the products or services you offer.

Once all of these preliminary decisions have been made, you can begin to create the actual emails themselves and can begin to distribute these emails. Once you have sent out your first batch of emails, you can take some time to evaluate the effectiveness of the first email before you send out the second batch.

This will be useful because if you determine the first batch was not very successful you can solicit feedback and make changes to the second email before sending it out.

If the second email is more successful than the first, you can conclude the changes you made were beneficial.
